At ConExpo-Con/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas (March 3-7), SANY America introduced five new excavators aimed squarely at North American contractors: the 16-ton SY135C, the 17.5-ton SY155U, the 27-ton SY235H, the 37-ton SY335C and the 60-ton SY500H. It's one of the company's biggest excavator refreshes for the region in years, and it lands as SANY marks its 20th anniversary of manufacturing in North America. For Quebec buyers and sellers of used equipment, the launch is a good moment to look at what's actually new — and what a Chinese-built excavator means in practice: price, resale, and who services it five years from now.
The five new models
- SY135C (16 tons) — the compact of the lineup, powered by a roughly 104-hp Isuzu engine, with conventional tailswing, a 7-inch touchscreen cab, rearview camera and eight-tool hydraulic selection.
- SY155U (17.5 tons) — built for utility contractors working tight urban sites: fixed boom, reduced tailswing, and the option of a 360-degree tiltrotator.
- SY235H (27 tons) — an everyday utility and site-prep machine with a 173-hp Cummins engine, a 10.1-inch display for running auxiliary hydraulics and attachments like tiltrotators, and standard rearview and blindside cameras.
- SY335C (37 tons) — a long-chassis model first introduced in 2023 that gets SANY's new cab treatment: a 10-inch touchscreen, camera views, and a 280-hp Cummins engine for large-scale excavation and material handling.
- SY500H (60 tons) — the flagship, running a 400-hp Cummins engine, a removable counterweight to simplify transport, and a digging depth beyond 25 feet for mass excavation, pipelines and quarry work.
What's new across the board
Beyond the raw specs, SANY says the redesign leans as much on operator experience as digging power: bigger touchscreens, more cameras, and hydraulics standardized across the range so attachments like tiltrotators plug in without custom plumbing. SANY also introduced ROOTPILOT, a 3D machine-control system using GNSS and inertial sensors for centimeter-level grade accuracy — the utility-focused models are pre-plumbed to run it out of the box. Every new model carries SANY's standard 5-year/5,000-hour warranty.
SANY's push into North America
The launch is part of a broader buildout. SANY America runs a 230-acre manufacturing and distribution campus in Peachtree City, Georgia — about 340,000 square feet of assembly space — plus a Canadian facility, and counts more than 75 North American-owned dealerships stretching from Maine to Washington State, with distribution points in Georgia, North Carolina, California and Ontario. Globally, SANY ranked sixth on KHL's Yellow Table of the world's largest equipment manufacturers by revenue in 2025. In Quebec specifically, SANY already has dealer coverage — outlets such as Mécanique J. Clair carry the brand, with SANY Canada listing dealer points from the Montreal area to Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and the Eastern Townships.
What it means if you're buying or selling used in Quebec
A Chinese-built excavator is no longer a novelty on Quebec jobsites, and SANY's push — more dealers, a real warranty, a wider lineup — is aimed at closing the gap with Japanese, American and European brands on more than just sticker price. That said, a few things are still worth weighing with any less-established brand, new or used.
- Resale track record. SANY's North American presence is younger than Cat, Komatsu, Deere or Hitachi's, so there's less used-market history to judge how these specific models hold their value over a full ownership cycle.
- Parts and service depth. A wider dealer network is a real improvement, but coverage and technician depth still vary by region — worth confirming before you count on same-week parts.
- Warranty transferability. A strong factory warranty matters most if it's honored consistently by the dealer who ends up servicing the machine, not just the one who sold it new.
None of this is a reason to rule a brand in or out — it's exactly the kind of thing an inspection and a documented service history settle regardless of nameplate. If you're listing a SANY (or any brand) for sale, a mechanical inspection and accurate hours do more for your price than the badge on the hood. If you're buying, ask for that same paperwork before you bid.
